So you want to catch fish by fly fishing? Great decision! I use a camera on all casting tuition, so that you can clearly see your progress. Lessons include:
- How to catch your first trout.
- All lessons are 1to1 only unless previously arranged.
- Explanation of the tackle and recommendation of what is available from good retailers.
- Safety - a hook traveling through the air faster than the speed of sound (literally) is a dangerous weapon. You are not just responsible for your own safety but also those who maybe around you.
- Foundations - grip, stance and the mechanics of casting; wrist, arm and body movement.
- Basic casts - roll cast and basic overhead cast.
- Explanation of basic leader set-ups and knots.
- Fishing - explanation of the types of flies and when to use them.
- Line retrieval, playing a fish, netting, release or landing.
- Full tuition notes to accompany the lesson for you to take home.
And did I mention catching your first trout! As a beginner it's easy to waste your money on rods, reels and lines that are unsuitable. Until you are certain that you want to invest your money on equipment, YOU CAN USE MINE, FREE OF CHARGE!!
I do 3 options of beginner tuition - a 2 hour "taster" lesson, a half day lesson and a full day lesson. All of these options included the items listed above but obviously the half and full day lessons give more time to assimilate the learning points and to practice.
